Big Changes Ahead: Revitalization of Stephen Avenue Has Begun in Downtown Calgary

Downtown Calgary is about to look very different. Construction has officially begun on the long-awaited Stephen Avenue revitalization project, starting on July 21st on the east side of the 100 Southeast block.

This major transformation will include:

  • Upgraded underground infrastructure

  • A modern, pedestrian-friendly streetscape

  • New materials, lighting, and urban design to refresh one of Calgary’s most iconic corridors

The project is scheduled for completion in June 2026, just in time to welcome thousands of visitors for next year’s Calgary Stampede.

Stephen Avenue has long been a hub for dining, shopping, and events, and this revitalization promises to breathe new life into the area, making it more welcoming and accessible for both locals and tourists.
